I know my question is too general, but I got some useful tips anyway
from all of your kind answers.
What is "snowcovered" ? Is it another forum ?
Or maybe is it an idiomatic phrase (sorry english is not my
mother-tongue as you can guess reading ) ?

Snowcovered is teh primary store for selling modules, Most modules have the option of selling source too which is why i suggested that.  Word of advice though, "buyer beware".  As long as you are careful, you will be ok.  Snow has a lot to be desired but until another competitor crops up thats all we got, or all I know about at least. :D

Hi everybody, I'm having the same need.
I want a module like the Reports one, that shows a GridView but with an additional connection string.

I've created such module but it come out dirty. I've used an OleDbConnection and I'm able to connect
Oracle as well as SQL Server. The only thing I'm having problem is with paging and sorting....

I'm wondering which is the correct way to produce such module....
Do I have to create a Controller class and Info class?
How can I maintain the DNN Logic?

I would like for instance to modify the Reports module.... it's a bad idea?

Regards

dcorallo,

Perhaps you add a second connection string to the data provider.  Check out this link http://opensource.indyneinc.com/home/DevX/Articles/SingleSignOnforDotNetNuke3/tabid/99/Default.aspx and review section talking about second connectin string.  This technique allows to access DotNetNuke db and a second db using the same DataProvider.vb.  This way, you can maintain the controller -> dataprovider -> sqldataprovider struction.
