You can use Enterprise Manager to generate your upgrade script. If you use EM to modify the table design, right before you save the changes, click on the "Save change script" icon.  That will automatically generate the database upgrade script for that table.

Visio Enterprise Architect can create a model from the current state of db objects, then you can change anything in the model and create a script to update your changes to the DB.

The Core Team mentioned use of RedGate tools to compare databases and script changes between them. It's probably SQL DataCompare

I dont use enterprise manager much but should have known it would have an option! I have since noticed that editing tables in visual studio will prompt you to save a script. The Red Gate stuff looks cool, I use SQL Prompt when writing stored procedures etc. I think I will stick with the Miscrosoft stuff for now, but if I hit any limitations Red Gate will be my next choice.

Thanks you all for the input this was exactlly what I was looking for!
