Mitch,

I have been using your guide to try and update a version 3.1 site that our company currently uses.  So far I have been able to follow it without any trouble.  The problem I am having is the link to your guide on making changes to the web config file.  It links to a page that contains some of your most recent posts.  Is there any way you could give me a link directly to that guide?  Your guide has been very helpful so far and if I can get to that I feel confident that it will help me to complete this process.

Thanks for any help,

Stephen

(Shameless plug)
Evotiva DNNBackup (http://www.evotiva.com/Products/DNNBa...) can do the cloning/moving (besides manual or scheduled regular backup/restore operations) very easy. It will help you with updating the web.config file and internal database settings (.net mismatch, database settings, url rewriter settings, servers records, default aliases, etc.)

I looked into that tool, and it looks like a good way to go, but I would like to have a complete understanding of the process and be comfortable enough to do it on my own before I start automating the process.  Will definitely try to convince the boss man of trying something like this after I finish fumbling through it myself.  Thanks.
