DNN Registration settings seemed unnecessarily burdensome (user, display, first, last, etc), so I decided to whack away. This module only requires user to input email address for registration (password is optional). It supports the administration options for public, private and verified registration along with the associated email events.  The email address is parsed to populate the required DNN User fields. This module is in no way a replacement for the full featured DNN user maintenance, but it can be expeditious way to get users to register on your site.

I have used it on DNN sites to enable expedited registration, newsletter signups and multiple registration types on the same site. In addition to the DNN auto-assign roles you can create auto assignment roles for each instance of this module. I often drop it in multiple places within a site with module permissions settings that it only appears for unauthenticated users (deselect inherit from Page).  If you want the registration tag to redirect to this module you can add it to page and specify that page to be site’s ‘User Page’.

It is free so give it a try at   http://dnn.microssoftware.com

Hi Lauren,

I tried your simple registration module and it worked great.  With just an email, users can sign up for accounts in the portal.  The module also sends our account confirmation like the CORE.  You are a genius.

Thanks for sharing

Lauren,

GREAT IDEA!!  I just registered on your site using it and it worked great.  I did run into one problem that I wanted to bring to your attention.  I don't know if this has to do with the way you have it setup on the site but anyway...

After receiving the email and loggin in I attempted to update my user information.  Specifically I updated the First Name, Last Name and Display Name fields.  When I attempted to update I got a message "Username is Invalid".  I searched the DNN Forums thinking it might be a 5.0 issue but didn't find any reference to this.

Just wanted to let you know.

Yes I noticed the Username validation problem, but could not see a work around short of modifying DNN core. I believe this is a bug in DNN which has been registered in Gemini. Note that you can modify any profile field (incl first/last), but modifications on account settings page cause that username validation error.
