Any news on this?

I'm new to DNN and looking for a good chat module. Swirl is still on 2.1, doesn't reply to my tickets either, no version 3 in sight.

Messer Chat is a lot newer, but I don't like the look-and-feel so much and he doesn't answer tickets either...*sigh*

And there is CuteChat, which seems to be just great. But the price is way beyond my budget (check their website, because in store.dotnetnuke.com they only offer the "1-domain" license!).

SigmaLive is good for 1-on-1 chat, but not (yet?) very good for chatrooms, IMHO.

"Eagles Webchat" and "Chatroom Multi-User Online Chat" are two other modules, just to complete the list. I totally disliked these two - just my opinion.

So I begin to run out of options...LOL. What I would need is something with the functionality of SwirlChat or CuteChat, but it should be within an affordable price range and it should run on DNN 6.2.2!

Okay, I took the risk and bought SwirlChat 2.1 ;)

The order process (through store.dotnetnuke.com) went fine and automatically. I was getting the download in "My Downloads" directly in the store. (Version of the module is 2.1.6). And I was getting an automated email from swirlhost.com with my licence key and with my credentials for their site.

I am on DNN 6.2.2 Community Edition, a Win2008R2 Server, running on .net 3.5, Full Trust.
Installation of SwirlChat 2.1.6 went smooth (just as with the newer 3rd party modules from nowadays).
Activation of the license just as described in the manual.
Then received this "AJAX not yet enabled!" error (it's described in their forum - a lot of people had this error since DNN 5...something.

Only thing I changed was: switching the apppool pipeline (that one of the AppPool DNN is running under) from "Integrated" to "Classic".
(no manual changes in the web.config or in the "friendly URL rewriter" at all, despite some posters in the forum suggested to do so). Then I restarted IIS.
The error disappeared and the chat works!

It's a workaround. I don't know what switching AppPool's pipeline from "Integrated" to "Classic" actually causes and if it breaks security and/or functionality other modules. (Can someone answer this, please?!). But I can at least confirm: With this workaround the SwirlChat module still works on the latest environment.

And it even works on iPhone and iPad. LOL. Not bad for such an old and nearly abandoned/unsupported product.
