I've just finished doing what I've called a Micro Basket (a cut down version of the Mini Basket)

Dave and Stuart, would you imagine your micro basket as an additional minicart module, as a replacement or as an integration with an option in the settings ?

Is it easy to integrate into the present project ?

Stuart, how will you implement the source for the currencies exchange rates ?

Speaking for myself I've made my Micro Basket / Micro Cart a really simple Module. I imagine it as an addition to the existing modules rather than a replacement for anything. Personally I think it fits nicely above the Catalogue 'menu' module.

I think it's trivial to integrate into the present project - there's 4 files (ascx, ascx.cs & ascx.designer.cs, and the htm file for the template), and an additional section for the dnn file (there's a text file in my .zip source download which has the extra folder element for the MicroCart module.

Here's a link to more explanation and a download of the source. Use it as you see fit - happy for it to be integrated or mashed up into the main code.

Hi Dave,

Thank for submit and share your code. But, I already created a similar Micro Cart last year. You can read this post about details, in the chapter 2 :

Currently, the skin objects file (Store_02.01.00_SkinObjects_Install.zip) is not available for download. This because the release tracker was not designed to treat skin objects, they are thus proposed separately. I asked Will (Team Leader) to place it in the download section of the Store project page. However, if you quickly need this file, send to me an email (look at my profile).

I choose to create a SkinObject instead a new module, but it's very close to your work except for the VAT price and Items. Do you think that's better the create a module instead a skinobject ?

Gilles

We (team members) are Humans offering their knowledge, their work and their spare time FOR FREE to benefit the community. It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

I see it in the code base - never looked in the SkinObject section before. Definitely think it's a good idea to be a module for most users won't be in a position to start messing with the skins, but the skin object is a real good idea too (although I think I'd want to be a bit more agressive with optimisation and caching on something that would be part of the skin!). Probably worth having both I'd say. No reason why they can't share the same control though is there.
