I am an experienced developer, but new to the DNN arena.  From what am I seeing (I'm reading the Pro DotNetNuke 4 book) it's very exciting stuff.

My question is this.

1) I need to build a site that offers one product.  A subscription to the content.

2) I need to accept PayPal and Visa and Mastercard.

3) I also need to provide security to the content area and only let in people that are paid subscribers.

4) I need to be able to somehow bill credit cards automatically on a timed basis (e.g. monthly, yearly, etc.)

Can I do this with DNN 4 and the Store module?  Any help and advice is certainly appreciated.  I really need to make a project decision very soon.

Thanks!

Hey there,

1 - 3: You can do this now, but it doesn't have anything to do with the store, it's part of the built in user subscription functionality.

#4 is the kicker - I don't think DNN can do this out of the box.  I know PayPal has the ability to do recurring payments, but I have yet to see DNN take advantage of this.

I'm reading the same book, and DNN has a built in scheduling application. I have the same requirements, a recurring monthly charge. I was going to investigate the built in scheduling app to see if I could use it to run a process that would charge the monthly charge.

Subscription Tools from www.ventrian.com may do what you need.

These tools have a few nice improvements to the existing subscription functions, but definitely doesn't do recurring subscriptions.  It might in the future, though.
