This will help me speed things up when I'm adding new pages. A lot of my pages have the same modules in the same panes. They generally fall into about 4 categories of types of set up.

I can see when I add a new page that I could use the 'default' template, which adds a HTML module to the contentpane. I want to nominate one of my existing pages as a template so I can just select that template instead of manually adding modules to all new pages.

How is this done? Can I nominate a page to be a template, or is there an XML file I need to add somewhere?

Hi Steve, Its even easier than that.  Just use the Copy button near the Add button and you get a neww page with the same set up and modules on it.

Steve,

unfortunately there is currently no button to create a page template, the easiest solution is to log in as host, go to host :: portals menu item and export the whole portal. this creates an xml file, open the file with an xml or text editor, remove all other pages and save it in /portals/default/templates folder named mytemplate.page.template.

Thanks Sebastian.

The reason I need this is because I have a process whereby I want members of a role to be able to add a record into a pending table (non core) and then I will moderate the new page request. On moderation I want to automate the page creation with all modules loaded. I'll dig around in the code so hopefully I can just write a custom SP to automate this, update my pending table and send notification to the requester email address that their new page is ready.
