No that could compromise the security of you computer, a seperate account is better.
I think it's not very likely DNN will Fork.

You do not wasnt to use the default sa account for the DotNetNuke installation.  The SA account has full permissions to the database instance and can add databases and other functions that you do not want to be granting your application.

You will want to add a new account for the application and only give it access to the appropriate database.

Thank you all for the info, here is another question that is digging at me speaking of moving from free to commercial modules.

Lets say I start my forums on the free module, 4 months from now I decide to convert to some commercial forum module, does all that data get lost (start anew) or is there a way with DNN to port over the posts/info from one forum module to another?

That is really going to depend on the module.  I am not sure of any modules out there that support importing from the base DNN module.  However, it wouldn't surprise me if one existed.

Fair enough

Do you suggest another free feature filled forum module then the one included with the install files?

What is a good site with free themes? (Or skins I guess they are called here) and free modules?

Thanks again for all your help to my, I am sure, newbie questions. The more I read the more I like this package.
