This issue has definitely been isolated to the DotNetNuke.Services.Search.SearchEngineScheduler

Without the schedule running, my CPU utilization has been stable.   If I run the schedule, it goes right back to 100% utilization.

In checking SQL Server connections, it accepts the connection, runs and completes, usually in only 30ms, but then DNN doesn't seem to get the response back or something else happens and it goes right to 100%.

What exactly does this SearchEngineScheduler do?

It schedules the indexation of all site content for modules that support the ISearchable interface.  It populates the index used by the search engine.

Ok..  then that makes sense with the further testing I've done.  With the 300,000+ posts I have indexed from Active Forums (you can select which forum topics you want indexed, or not), I run into this issue.  If I don't index any forum posts, I don't have a problem.

I think I'll stop indexing forum posts into the core, and hope the Active Forums 3.7 has a better search functionality implemented. (I know he's working on it, just don't know for what release)...  or I'll do some sort of external search feature using Google COOP and only list my site.

Thanks for the continued help Mitchel.. much appreciated.
