An application restart should not have ANY affect on any content.  It will clear any cache (If stored in memory) and typically some sessions might be lost.  However, everything should simply re-load from the database without issue.

I tried restarting twice with the restart button on the host tab. Unfortunately, it had no effect on the problem.

There wasn't any confirmation message after I clicked restart, it just refreshed the page. Is there some way to check that the restart worked correctly?

There could be a lot of reasons for this but one reason that I know causes it are certain CSS/Javascript combinations. We use the SIPHR tool to use custom fonts on our titles and for some reason they don't show in Admin mode. I'm not sure if its caused by differences in admin caching, skin generation order or what. It's annoying but not a dealbreaker for us. Does it still happen to you if you drop back to one of the stock DNN skins?

Yeah, it happens with any skin as long as I log in as host.

If you look in the Event Viewer you should see entries for

Application shutting down

and

Application starting

The restart seems to have worked but it seems to generate some kind of error every time I restart it. I'm not sure if it's a serious error.
