That was it... thanks.

I had tried restarting the application using the link on the host/settings page, but forgot about the clear cache option.

Thanks again...

Does anyone know where to change the RegEx in DNN 4.4.1 ? I need to urgently resolve the problem of email addresses containing dashes being considered invalid and am reluctant to upgrade immediately. Thx.

I second the motion!  I am sure there are a lot of folks out there that would welcome a resolution without having to do a full blown up-grade for what seems like a superficial problem.

Hi,

I informed the Core team about that several months ago (06/03/2007) on Gemini.

Because the regex is hard coded, you have to install DNN 4.4.1 WITH sources. You need VS 2005 Pro too because you have to re-compile the library.

Open the solution file (DotNetNuke.Library.sln) located inside C:\DotNetNuke\Libray (for a "classic" install). From the solution explorer, expand Components then Users. Open the file UserInfo.vb. Go to the line number 120 and replace the previous regex by this one: \b[a-zA-Z0-9._%\-+']+@[a-zA-Z0-9.\-]+\.[a-zA-Z]{2,6}\b

Rebuild the solution and your problem will be solved!

In fact, there is three bugs in this expression (corrected in red above). The two "\" because the character "-" have a different signification inside brakets and the "6" at the end. This last correction because the ICANN has just accepted new TLD like .museum and .travels which contain 6 characters.

We (team members) are Humans offering their knowledge, their work and their spare time FOR FREE to benefit the community. It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

I just wanted to give Mitchel's regex tester props. I dig that tool.

Also, just wanted to quote an "anonymous" forum user (unexpected use case!)
