Ok, we will try a check of the files before and after.... However a couple of things pop to mind.

1. Why would they be any different after a DNN upgrade. I would have thought the files would not have been touched by the core upgrade process?

2. Why with a kick ass server config would we be the only ones with this problem. It's there, repeatable and it's hard to believe that others are not about to experience the same issue.

On the caching thing.. we sometimes set it to "No Caching" for development testing and site building... just to be sure that caching is not mucking with anything we are playing with. I presume your advice is based on server load and performance?

I also was interested in your comment re disk cache. I have noted a few blogs etc saying "stay away" from disk caching. Your exact thoughts on this would be interesting.

For questions 1 & 2, my only guess is that you have a corrupt language file, or a language file that others are not using, but that is only a guess from the error output.

Yes, my advice is because I have had several people report to me that after setting their caching to "no caching" in a production environment that their site just stopped working.
They couldn't get it back until the setting was changed in the DB and the app restarted.

I don't like disk caching for modules because that is a lot of file IO for a single request.  It's better to cache those fragments in memory, or better yet to cache the whole page.

Ok.. I took the plunge again armed with your idea's.

1. Backup

2. Install the upgrade.

4. Cache set as suggested.

5. Test the site.. and again, up till to forums.. all good.  Then crap out again.

I noticed that the Handles and threads in the Windows Task manger on the server just counted up untill the thing crashed (site wise... server is fine)

Tried setting the world leaders USA English. No joy...

Short of others recognising the problem and the core team fixing the problem.... I don't know where to go from here...  suggestions welcomed.

Happy to package up the site and database for "important people" to have a look.

The plot thickens.

On testing the upgrade again.. I checked with another account.  It worked.

So now it appears that a host or admin account will fail, but other accounts will work while accessing the Forum module.

Go figure?

Someone fixed something.

The upgrade to 4.5.3 fixed this issue.

Thanks for your reply and assistance!
