Thanks for all your responses but I have located the problem - Novell Border Manager

I was at work when I was trying to access the forum and it looks like Border Manager is caching the page for an excessive amount of time. I told one of the Infrastructure guys and he navigated to the forum - imagine our surprise when I appeared to be logged in, i.e. the page had 'Dave Carson | Logout' at the top right! No matter how many times he hit CTRL-F5 when he refreshed the page I was logged in again!

Good job we are junking Novell in the not too distant future - more trouble than it is worth and that's the truth.
