Yes, and the latest version of Active Forums doesn't work with older versions of DotNetNuke.

The MailConnector still exists.  I believe that it's part of the "pro" or other premium version of AF.  Depending on what you purchased and when you purchased it, you may be able to get it without upgrading to the most expensive version.  You can always ask!

I bought and used ActiveForums and the MailConnector when I was running a DNN 3 portal in the past.  I liked it very much.  But now I'm standing up a 4.5.4 DNN portal and the version of ActiveForums I have, ActiveForums 3.6, doesn't work with DNN 4.5.4.  So now, not only do I have to pay to upgrade, but it also appears that the MailConnector is not an option anymore.  I don't see it for purchase on the the ActiveModules web site as a separate purchase.  You have to shell out $199 for the ActiveForums Enterprise edition to get that capability.  Not an option for my little non-profit organization.

But more to the point, this seems like such an obvious capability that it ought to be in the core.

 

Gary, if your non-profit is recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charity with the IRS, ActiveForums will give you a 50% discount on the Enterprise edition only, so it would be $99.50 instead of $199.  Not an insignificant amount but it helps and ActiveForums is one of the best forum modules for DNN out there.  Contact the ActiveModules sales team directly via email for more information.
