I was experimenting a bit with the various settings in our local installation of DNN 4.5, and I inadvertently set one of the profile settings to be "required" and "invisible". So now I no longer can log in: the system wants me to provide that field, but it doesn't let me.

What is the solution to this kind of problem? I can't seem to find discussions about it here, so I assume the solution must be very simple.

Pim,

what you are probably going to need to do is to directly access the database to remove the required attribute from the property.  Do you have access to the database?  Are you the website host?

If you have access, try this SQL:

select PropertyDefinitionID, PortalId, PropertyCategory, PropertyName, Required from ProfilePropertyDefinition where PropertyName = 'NameOfYourProperty' and Required = 1

update ProfilePropertyDefinition
set Required = 0
where PropertyDefintionID = xxx

Hope it helps,

Sorry, I didn't read the post closely enough.  My solution is for a different lockout problem.  You'll need to use Brian's method for profile property lockout issues.

Yes! This is on my own computer, where I always test everything before making changes on the website.
So your solutions works perfectly. Thanks! I dreaded looking in the database, because the information in there is not always easy to find. So thanks for the help.

But after this, I'm a bit surprised that DNN allows this. I mean, setting "Required" to true and "Visible" to false should always be a no-no. The system should warn against doing it!
If I have time, I'll look in the source and see if I can come up with a suggestion for a patch.
