I’m working for some time now for an add-on for DotNetNuke that will make it mobile platform friendly while maintaining the same look for desktop.

I studied this subject and realized just skinning wont do the trick. Here are 3 reasons for creating such add-on:
  • Mobile pages need to follow XHTML-XP standard;
  • A DNN page, even if it's empty of content, it's too heavy for a mobile device.
  •  Standard navigation that comes with DNN wont work on most of devices. This may be fixed by skinning but would require multiple authoring. In other words maintaining separate versions of same dnn portal targeting different devices (desktop and mobile)
My solution will adapt existing pages to the mobile context and will support existing dnn modules as well as dual targeted modules (that will have a version targeting mobile platform)

I'm posting here to see any possible reaction from the community and if there is any interest. I intend to make it open source and would be interested for possible beta testers.

I am glad to see other have such interest, I spoke with Darren Shsffer with Hand Held Logic about this while attending the OpenForce conference. I have a project to deliver live content to a mobile devices and he suggested a few resources but he did say what I had in mind is still a few years out. It would be nice to have a DNN light sort of speak for the Mobile world.

I have a definate interest in this and a cuurent project for which this would be perfect.  I'm not a developer, so I wouldn't be able to contribute.  But I would be intereted in testing.

I'm quite interested.

I have always used the targeted style sheet approach but it would be nice to be able to toggle to a striped down mobile skin.  Use must remain in control however since webkit seems to answer many of the issues with mobile browsing.
