Guess one can only hope that over time these 'core' module teams will make the same choice to move platforms to c#.
So as not to devolved down into a fragmentation nightmare over time.

 Why so?  Unless you actually work in the module code the language seems unimportant.

I'm curious... Which tool(s) finally successfully automated of most of the code translation to C#? Or was this mostly a hand-made process?

So why is DNN going C# in version 6.0.0? Joe Brinkman explains how version 6 is basically DNN in C# rather than VB (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryId/3006/DotNetNuke-ldquo-Hadron-rdquo-6-0-0-Community-Technology-Preview.aspx) but fails to explain why the decision to move to C# or what improvements the end users (non-coders) like myself will experience as a result.

I asked this question directly on Joe's post but it appears writing comments on there are a waste of time as non are being reviewed or approved.

Its unlikely that as an end user you will ever see any real difference in any program just because it is written in a different language. Ultimately both C# and VB execute inside the same CLR engine.

But in the longer term, one would have to suspect that the as the C# community comes to adopt DNN as its own, we are likely to see many new modules appearing from a lot of talented new developers.

One has to guess that only time will tell ...
