Hi All,

I was wondering whether there was a higher level summary to what is new in 4.8. It is difficult to understand how significant the fixes are through looking at the Change Log. If there is not then I would suggest it would be useful perhaps grouping aspects of functionality such as "Performance", "Admin", "Security" etc.

It would not take long.....

What do you think?

I agree with the sentiment. I have found the change log to be buried deep in the site and when I do find it, its not particularly clear.

How about putting the change log on the download page, next to the version you wish to download?

Thanks for all the replies, but with the greatest of respect this is still a little cryptic.

I want to read something that is halfway from techie changelog ro marketing literature to help me work out whether it is worth upgrading. Unfortunately the changlelog reads like a Issue list for a team of programmers which it is, but it presents little insight into the importance of each of the "Fixes" or "Enhancements".

I think this would take very little time, while providing much value.

Thanks for this... Just putting the change log on the download page is not enough. We actually need somebody to describe the new realease in Plain English in a series of paragraphs perhaps grouped by Functional Groups ie Performance.... If this was a commercial non OS product you can bet there would be a great big marketing splash page about all the new exciting features.... I am not saying that we need to go this far..... but halfway would be great. Lets celebrate all the hardwork that has been put in to get 4.8 in an exciting way....
