Hello Mod Developers --

I need your help. I have gone through all the video tutorials but still am very much a beginner.

My boss wants me to build the following features into our website, and am not sure which DNN modules work best:

Feature DNN Module
Download Library Repository module (?). (But it needs to be multi-level categories)
Profiles *?*   Like MySpace pages, personal bio and stuff for each member.
Friends *?*   Establish "friend" status with other members, like FaceBook
Groups *?*   Also like FaceBook, allow members to join "Groups" which represent common interests, like "Mountain Climbers Group".
Forums Forums module.
Announcements Blog module (?).
Documentation Wiki module (?).
Training Videos Blog module.
FAQ *?* (could use blog module I suppose, is there a better way?)
Developer API Wiki module (?).

Please provide your suggestions!

*** if you are selling a solution, point me to it! I have a budget for buyig DNN modules.

Many Thanks.

Thanks Sebastian,

For Friends & Groups can you point me to some good choices? That Marketplace is HUGE and i'd rather not spend all day with trial-and-error......

THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK!

Feature DNN Module
Download Library Repository (However if mult-category display is needed, you might want to look into 3rd party solutons)
Profiles Built in for the profile properties, but for the personal pages portion you might look into the modules provided by Smart-Thinker as they have a profile module
Friends Look into the modules offered by Smart-Thinker and other Social Networking module providers
Groups Look into the modules offered by Smart-Thinker and other Social Networking module providers
Forums ActiveForums
Announcements Depending on what you are looking for, the core announcements module, or possibly a blog or other communcation module
Documentation Depends on what you are talking about here....
Training Videos Where would they be hosted?  What format?  DO you need extra content with them?
FAQ FAQ Module if looking for single page displays, a blog or other 3rd party module if other format needed
Developer API What do you need? Maybe Help module

This is at leat my take on the way I would do it, depending on the true final requirements other solutions might be needed.  If you have questions, feel free to e-mail me at mitchel.sellers (at) gmail.com

SmartThinker's User Profile module will take care of your profiles and possibly your Friends/Groups needs.  Throw in their UserGroups and Calendar and you're most of the way there.

DNNFusion's MyProfile gives you the "MySpace" setup almost directly, and there are several add-ons that work with it.

BizModules.net does Ultra-Media and Ultra-Video galleries that may meet your download, documentation and training video needs.  We use the repository module for those, you might try that first.

Forums it's tough to beat Active Forums, by ActiveModules.  Unless the basic DNN froums work for you, that would be my next, and only, choice.

There are any number of third party announcement modules, but the built-in one isn't too bad now.  I have a preference for Invenmanager's Advanced Announcement, but not so much that I've bought it yet.  :)

For the FAQ, the FAQ module may suffice, try it.  Otherwise, ZLDNN does Advanced FAQ, which is the only one I've looked at but is really complete.

Not sure what you mean by Developer API, so I can't help you there.  If you're thinking of a WIKI, I've never found one as capable as the PHP versions, and I'm not a big fan of the DNN Wiki module, at least not yet.

Hope it helps,

Jeff
