Given all these answers...

What does DNN load upon startup?

I wrote a small .net app that doesn't do much and .net load is about 2 seconds vs 20 seconds for dnn.  Same server.

You can get a free program to keep your site "alive" called "SmarterPing" from http://www.smartertools.com/Products/SmarterPing/Default.aspx.

It runs as a Windows service.  I've been using it for a few months now, works well.

Or you could use the free www.KeepAliveForever.com service.  Right now their software will keep your site alive, but they have plans to make it do even more like notifications when your site goes down and sutff.

We've just released a free module, which does the job without the need for an external service. The site pings itself only once at recycle time, which triggers a restart.

Check the corresponding post.

Scott,

how did you get the www.alkihomes.com to load up so quickly.  Take a look at my school district site in progress, www.mcisd.net/mcisddev/default.aspx.

I'm using DNN community edition 5.01, can you explain more about the keepalive.aspx page please.

I'd greatly appreciate your help.
