I read some on www.dotnetnukecorp.com that you need to have a product in the DNN Marketplace to have access to the beta of Cambrian. I am wondering what exactly I need to do to get ahold of the beta? If I code a module or make a skin and put it up for sale on the marketplace will I get access to the beta?

The reason I ask is that I am very interested in the workflow release that is slated for Cambrian and I would like to start looking at the requirements as soon as possible. I am not opposed to making some skins or even a module if it meant I would get access to the beta. I have been thinking about posting some things anyway.

Thanks!
Jim

there is no release date atm and AFAIK no dedicated access to beta for marketplace sellers, but I will try to get an answer from the corp.

I am citing the Dotnetnuke Newsletter Volume IV, Number 1 below. I received the the newsletter in my email 2 days ago, and I was wondering if I publish a skin to the Marketplace now, will I get access to the beta? It sounds that way to me but I wanted clarification.

Cambrian
Excitement is building for the next major platform release for DotNetNuke, code-named "Cambrian" ( this was first announced during my keynote at the DotNetNuke OpenForce conference last November ). Development has been progressing at a steady pace and we expect to deliver a substantial amount of new functionality in the initial release scheduled for the end of the first quarter 2008. Charles Nurse has been highly focused in recent weeks on completing the powerful new packaging and distribution system originally introduced in version 4.7. In addition, the portal and host administration area has been refactored to remove much of the restrictive legacy behavior and allow for much greater flexibility. Since extensibility has long been one of the pillars of the DotNetNuke product, these changes will provide even more opportunity for developers, designers, and systems integrators to create innovative business solutions. Although we are trying to avoid any breaking changes in this release, we highly encourage module developers and skinners to get prepared early for the new platform. To facilitate this, we will be making the Beta release of Cambrian available to all vendors who have active product listings in the DotNetNuke Marketplace, so get your products listed now to participate in this Beta offering.

We are currently evaluating DNN for our web portal.  However, the lack of per-user customization analogous to My Yahoo! can be a show stopper.  In the keynote address Shawn emphasized social networking feature of Cambrian release.  But lacking the details and a Beta download how can we get some idea about that feature?  Are there the specs?  Or Beta download?
