I'm using CrystalTech for my web hosting. They offer DNN installations but only 4.5.5. The problem is nearly all the modules need to be updated but to a min of DNN 4.6! Why they would be so far back is beyond me..... ANYWAY, how do you install DNN remotely. Do I just FTP into where site files are stored and drop in the 4.7 INSTALL files from the .zip document? I have a database configured and ready to go, but where do I get the Machine and Validation Keys, and Object Qualifier to put into the web.config??? Any help would be great to this novice !!!

FINALLY....!....someone put this task together for people to understand. I personally don't feel the documentation that is provided is enough to make it happen successfully. I have only ever been able to upgrade a site once but it had errors in it. Anyway, can I follow the Upgrading to DotNetNuke 4.6.0 from 4.x instructions to upgrade to version 4.7 or 4.8? I will give these a shot tonight and see how it goes. I'm just amazed that the simple things like stopping people from hitting the site while files are being copied etc SHOULD be mentioned in the documentation because this creates a real problem while trying to install.

Lastly, in your document you said that the "upgrade" can be done using the 4.X INSTALL.zip package just as well as the upgrade package yet the only difference is that it has the core module upgrades in it, correct?

Thank you for passing this one on... I will be bookmarking it 100 times so I don't loose it.

I'm sure that we resolved your specific issue via e-mail earlier today, but I thought I would double check!
