I can't say for sure, but it sounds like you've gone to tee wrong place to add the file. All content in the text/html module has to be added in the FCK rich text editor - the one that looks like a word processor. Don't add anything the module settings... and if you have for example uploaded a flash file to the module icon setting, the go back into the setttings page and remove it.

In the FCK editor there should be a button for inserting a Flash or SWF file. Try using that. If the button is not present, then the person who created the portal may have disabled it.

Alternatively, there are simple modules designed just for uploading and displaying individual flash files. I recommend the free one by DigNuke here http://www.dignuke.com/Modules/digFlash/tabid/81/Default.aspx

I'm not sure exactly what the lines on the flash image are. A Flash object is a single item. It will only display what it has inside it. If there was something else on it when displayed elsewhere then that was probably not generated by the file itself. I can't say wthout knowing more or seeing it.

You might also be having an issue with Safari. That browser isn't compatible with the FCK editor as is currently used in DNN. You'll have to use Firefox if you're on a Mac.

Or are you referring to the playback on the file in Safari.. you'll need to send a link or somethign to demonstrate this.

I have the same problem too. The Flash in my Text/HTML did not run. Any idea? I also follow the article http://www.thinkofdesign.com/Blog/tabid/65/ctl/ArticleView/mid/369/articleId/29/Add-Flash-content-to-your-skins-the-right-way.aspx but still can get the Flash run
