I'm trying to create a page that is has the word alert in the page title and the system keeps redirecting me.  what's up with that?

Alert is a javascript keyword. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

Hi Tom,

There are some vulnerabilities associated with unprotected use of the token "alert" in user-submitted data; DNN therefore filters out instances of this word.  However, the current filter is a bit like killing ants with a sledgehammer, and also removes innocent applications, as it appears to be doing in your case.

I believe that 4.9 (due out soon, I understand) will include a more temperate filter, but do not yet know what final form it will take.  I recommend avoiding the use of this keyword in your page titles until then.

Hope this helps!

Brandon

I am with Brandon on this one, there was a bug with the input filter that was replacing items that are not supposed to be replaced.

I believe there is a fix in 4.9.0 for it, at this time I am NOT aware of ANY workaround for this issue sadly.

For users with host access, it seems to me that direct modification of the Tabs table should bypass the filter.  The following SQL should do the trick:

UPDATE [Tabs] SET [TabName] = 'Your name here' WHERE [TabId] = (Desired TabId)

If your database has a prefix, make sure to include it prior to the "Tabs" target.

I haven't personally tried this workaround, but I assume that the filter is applied only during data validation.
