Hi All,

Right now I am working on developing(Implementation over, Testing is going on)  MySqlDataProvider for DotnetNuke for one of my interesting web site. I am developing for MySql 4.0.26 (very basic, no sub query feature) and I will look forward data provider for MySql 5.0. Since the basic Dotnetnuke + MySql provider going very smooth, but I afraid threre may  be still more errors.

I love to work with DotNetNuke code and patterns. I got excellent support from MySql and particularly PHP community who cleared all my questions about mysql and query logic. I am using MySql Connector for .NET to MySql which is 100% .NET compliant component.

I afraid to test on Internationalized language ( but very basic smoke testing i have done (at nodules level). It is working very nice..

I am looking forward, thoughts from Nuke community about MySqlDataprovider, in general. If you have any specific requirements, issues or concerns, please free to share here. If you have any specific question in mind, please share with me. Since I am attacking MySqlProvidor based on my web site requirements. But anyone can use my MySqlProvider with DotNetnuke 4.0.2 version.

Regards,

Krish

Exciting (and needed) news!

You've obviously had better luck with the MySqlDataProvider than I have - I ended up going back to ODBC/MySql in Dot Net 2.0 (to be fair to the folks at MySql, I was in a rush and did not have the time to verify that the apparent problems really were).

Unless DTS, MSAS or MSRS is needed (or the 2005 flavor of these), I think MySQL is a better platform in many cases where SQL Server used to get the nod.

Have you had a chance to test performance yet? There is lots of rumbling that the connector and the odbc driver are slow with ASPX but I haven't seen this.

Keep us posted!

Great!

Do you need some tester?

I've been asked to create a DNN site with MySQL DB  and i've been searching around for a data provider....

If you like, i could help you on testing your driver.

I am the Core member responsible for Data Access issues. I originally started work on a MySQL provider but stopped after a commercial one was made available.

If you need any assistance from the Core or would like to become an official Core project, please contact me directly at webmaster@adefwebserver.com
