Well if I'd have read this thread 6 months ago I would have saved myself a lot of time, money and effort.

Sites down again.  We've got to re-build the whole thing in Joomla for free.  No disrespect to DNN.  It's all easycgi's fault.

I know that my vote doesn't count in the DNN world but personally I would prefer hearing both the good and the bad with regards to anything regarding DNN. This includes third party modules, hosting, or the core itself.

I certainly don't want to disrespect Cathal but in my opinion this is why DNN needs a non-corp website, forums, etc.  I don't want to NOT hear about problems with something regarding DNN for whatever reason. If the poster is full of crap then the the provider/company can also post. Of course, if the poster is not using proper language, shows a lack of class, or refuses to give it up even after the subject in question has answered that would be a different story.

I will also note that there have been other providers (one of which was also a hoster) who have faced threads with huge numbers of posts and that was never a problem. Seems kind of like a double standard to me.

Again, I mean no disrespect to Cathal but that post kind of hit a sour note with me.

FYI this is a non-corp website, and I'm certainly not being paid by anyone.

With my post, all I was doing was applying our forum rules "3. No Flaming or Trolling. ", as I'd seen a lot of posts on the topic in a short time, including a daily updated dialog, which meets my description of flaming/trolling.

I agree that it's good that community members know both pro's and con's of dotnetnuke related products/services , so I typically let through posts as long as they are not slanderous (dotnetnuke can be sued for allowing people to make slanderous comments - in the eyes of the law it's our infrastructure so it's our responsibility - that's why some other forums do not allow mention of companies/services) .  I do try to take care to keep this forum mostly on topic so will continue to request users remain on topic when I feel it's approriate.

Well I find this post very helpful.  Afterall this is a community and I would like to hear opinions from the community, especially with regards to hosting.  I've seen spans of EasyCGI ads on this very site, and even considered using them, thanks to this post I know now how they handle their customers.

I've also seen spans of people complain about go-daddy which also made me decide not to choose them as a hosting provider either, although I have not seen any go-daddy ads on thsi site, lol maybe that's the difference ????

Anyway I appreciate the heads up, and I'm sure lots of other community members do too.  We should start doing a lot more of this, service providers in any shape or form should start paying more attention to their customers and they should also accept the concequences if they screw up.  Over the years there has been a mentality taking shape on the web, one of the stupid users and the mighty companies.  It is the stupid users that are keeping these mighty companies in business and it is these stupid users that should have the right to bitch if they want to

Cathal,
Its important to discuss these issues. EasyCGI is a sponsor of DNN, and has made a commitment to support DNN on their site. They were doing this in a great way until their platform change in October. Since then they have broken people's DNN installations.  They also do not seem to be putting any real effort into making the repairs. My issue took over 1 month to get fixed and turned out to be due to some automated migration tool they are using inserting code into the site.

For a company that is supposed to be committed to supporting DNN on their servers they have done a poor job lately. I think its important that people can see what is going on. Perhaps we can help other DNN developers to avoid the same grief I had until the problems are worked out, or as I said before it would be great for someone at EasyCGI to get a wakeup call. Is there a DNN "expert" at EasyCGI? Honestly at the peak of my troubles I tried deleting everything on the new account and using the EasyCGI script for DNN installation and that failed as well.

The reason I originally posted was in the hopes that some higher up stakeholders within DNN Corp or EasyCGI would read about the issues and go crack some heads at EasyCGI to get DNN working again. These are issues that people have a right to know whether EasyCGI is an advertiser or not.
