Thanks.

Looks like replies to my question do not group together. They are spread all over. And since the indents(?) are very small, I must have a scale to figure that out.

Anyways, thanks for the tip.

I am wrong. The replies are grouped together. But the indents are small and its hard to figure out.  Also, it looks like people hardly use proper reply function (I am guilty of this too, but now I know about the tree view and I will be careful).

Thanks

I am paying $80 for the above configuration.  I will have to pay $19 more to get 1GB RAM. I am using 3essentials for hosting my websites. I like them and they have been very helpful.

So everybody thinks if I get 1GB I should be fine?

Tony, thanks for your time, but with all due respect, your messages go over my head. You are too technical for a beginner like me. That is not bad, I hope you realize that. Thank you for the link. I will read more about VMs and get back to you. Thanks, again.

Will, I had to upgrade because I wanted to enable MailConnector. 3essentials did not allow me to use MC in their shared hosting. And, no you have not offended me in any way.

Frozen,  I am guilty of not paying attention to which entry I reply to (since I always use the flat view).

You may be fine with the 5 installs with a gig of memory.   Are your databases on a separate server or will you be using Express on the same?   Express will eat up a bunch of memory also, so you may need to monitor the memory usage if trying to have databases there too.   If databases are separate, such as shared database, you should have no issue.  It has been awhile, but I believe I had about that many installs (with multiple portals) on a VPS with 1 gig of memory and 20 gig of disk like what you describe.  In addition, it also ran the Smarter Tools apps as well as a dozen or more simple html sites.  (I am no expert, but from experience, I believe you will be fine).

 Hey Frozen,

Adding +1GB will help, but at that cost, it really sounds like you're talking about virtual ram instead of physical ram so it won't be a big help (just increase the windows pagefile size in your VPS and it will do about the same thing - the VPS will just report it differently).

Sorry about going into too much technical detail.  I guess an easy way to summarize this is:A server's motherboard (the part that connects everything together) is like a street with office buildings around the edges.  It doesn't matter how big your buildings are (CPU, RAM, Hard drive), if the street is congested, it will take people (code/data) forever to get to work and will slow down the entire process.  Virtualization increases the traffic on the street and virtualizing DotNetNuke _GREATLY_ increases the traffic on the street.
