I've become very fond of the Effority Versioning HTML module.  It's also free.

Another vote for Ventrian: News Articles, Simple Gallery - two mainstays. And a handful of other good'ns.

I consider Enterprise forms a must-have but that's not a trivial decision; it's a major app with work flow and lots of features. Some alternatives have been mentioned above (XMod, Dynamic Springs, etc).

The DNNCreative subscription is a good recommendation.

Honorable mention for Mandeeps Live Content though there are  a few others that provide similar.

PageBlaster and CSSNavMenu, both from Snapsis, thumbs up.

SGSV (formerly SQL Grid Selected View) from Tressleworks.com is one of the best bang for buck investments you'll ever make if you have any need to deliver queried data to a grid report. Depends on the nature of your portals; it is an extremely powerful utility.

Ventrian subscription:  Propery Agent, News Articles, Simple Gallery and I cannot imagine building a site without Child Links.

Ultra Media gallery:  When your client just can't get past their Flash fixation, this module is great.

Netsim Map Express: When you just need a simple map for your contact page with multi views and driving directions (set up in 2-minutes no confusion.)

Rhema Surveys:  The DNN core survey module just does not cut it feature-wise.  Rhema does a great job

Bulk User Manager:  When you need to import users, export users, change roles in bulk.  Turn an excel spreadsheet into thousands of users added to roles in seconds.  Export your users for use in other applications or portals.

MetaPost by ITC:  This module lets ou use Live Writer, Word or any other Blogging software to update many DNN modules.
