Hello guys !

It would be extremely helpful to be able to rename the default.aspx file into something else (let's say default1.aspx) so that I - as I know the different name - still can access the portal for some administration and users that do not know the different name come on another file that I call default.aspx but where I leave a message "this portal is under construction" or something like this.

Does anybody know how to get this work?

Thank you very much for any advice!

Regards,

Fabian

It's easier than that -

By default - IIS will set default.htm or index.htm as the first page it looks for when displaying a site - and that's what I do. I have a default.htm file uploaded and simply use FTP to rename to another name when not in use.

Is this the sort of solution you are looking for?

Hallo Nina,

thank you for your suggestion.

In fact this is not exactly what I am looking for. Because this only works when the user types the domain (www.mydomain.com) and does not designate a specific file. But when he types www.mydomain.com/defaul.aspx?tabid=99 he still may access the portal.

That's why I need to rename the default.aspx page.

Do you know a way how to do this?

Regards,
Fabian

So are you trying to stop all people from accessing the site, except the person who knows the complete url? Or are you looking for a login page or something?

Right! Is there any way to renam the default.aspx page or is it mentioned in the code everywhere?

Fabian
