I started using DNN with 5.0.0 so please stop telling me to stick with 4.9.2. I am not moving backwards. Plus it's the last version DNN will support so it's going to be obsolete pretty soon. Have you been following my other post about SQL Server 2000? Maybe you can get some hints.

You said yourself it's broken and reported it in Gemini. What's your position about it now? It's not broken? Did you test it and it actually works with pre 5.x skins? Do you need a skin that proves it does not work?  Your posts are conflicting.

If the fixes are posted for the public to test and verify, we wouldn't have these discussions. It seems you don't believe in this process.

I'm busy. If you want the issue fixed please log the issue in Gemini with steps to reproduce, then I shall attempt to reproduce the problem. Then the issue can be progressed.

I think I am wasting my time with you. You can't post consistent straight answers.

Now you finally quote a URL as a reference point I understand the issue is logged and is known issue.

It was difficult for me to understand whether this was a new issue or not the way you were talking about it. Plus I deal with so many issues and help people by posting lots of URL's for Gemini all over these forums (and cross reference them accordingly) that I hope you will forgive me if my memory gets hazy from time to time. It can get really confusing when a particular issue gets discussed in three seperate threads/areas. I would recommend you comment on that issue then in Gemini (if only to confirm that this is indeed your issue), and then the topic here can continue as it had before...

Maybe you could recommend a suitable code fix for that issue in Gemini as you have 5.0.1 like everybody else does.

The trunk will probably not ever be opened up.  That is a form of necessary control that has kept the DNN core as stable as it has been up to this point.  That being said, we probably had a greater chance of that happening before the funding occured.  However, I am not convinced that having the trunk being open would be a good thing either way.  I favor the side of security and stability, while at the same time, I see your point at people being able to see pending changes.  (I have seen you make a pretty good argument for it in another thread.)

Of course it will be better! I have spent hours yesterday installing legacy skins because the darn batch installer is BROKEN in 5.0.1. Very very frustrating. Frustrating because I reported the problem in 5.0.0. I used the repackskin kindly developed by a volunteer in 5.0.0. Now this tool doesn't help in 5.0.1.

I have asked several times to release beta's or RC's and I got non convincing replies. I am going to post a separate post because I am actually pissed off now.

What are the security concerns? Please explain.

NB the issue about code contributions/nightly builds/release process/testing has been discussed before on yet another topic:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/284258/scope/posts/Default.aspx

... and there were some fairly suitable answers here that probably need re-reading... So I suggest discussion about that topic should continue from that thread.
There was yet another topic about RC's etc for 5.0.1 elsewhere (sorry can't find the URL)... I think that got discussed to death as well.

And I'm sorry if I've made a load of off topic posts myself here in response.

Now back to topic.
