Well for one, with the Telerik Editor, you will have better support for cross platform browsers...And I believe the spell check will be available for cross browsers.  I'm also looking forward to the ability to allow my users to edit the image sizes with this tool as well...plus there are number of other enhancements.  Don't get me wrong FCK editor is nice, but it wasn't until the last version of the FCK provider was MAC users able to use safari and the FCK editor...before the update they were forced to use FireFox.

I'll second the Mac Safari issue, one reason we use the Telerik editor.  The major reason though is that we subscribe to the Telerik suite so it makes sense.  Though if you're longing for the FCKEditor experience, at least the Telerik editor is about as poorly documented as any other DNN module.  :)

We also use Telerik controls for Windows apps so Telerik controls make sense for DNN.

We have been using the Telerik editor for years, and have not had any problem with it.  It does play well with the DN N file structure as it should.  We have hundreds of teachers uploading images and files to their DNN websites with no problem.  There are a few VERY small cliches in the Telerik editor that I have heard will be repair with the next release, but maybe you are doing something else wrong if it's not working for you.

It works with the file system great and works with DNN's file management well too.  It just has an issue where it won't obey DNN file/folder restrictions.  My other complaint at the time was also somewhat DNN's fault, I wanted to restrict specific file types to specific folders, but there's nothingh set up to do this.

In my case, it all got solved with user education.  And a few spankings.

So every teacher is putting their items in one folder?  Or do you have to educate your staff to use only their folders within the main folder?  How many sites do you have to maintain?  How big is your school system?  Just curious to how others are getting around this....

What I've done using FCK Editor  and the permissions is give everyone read access to each other's folders but only write access to their own folder....In this way they can share common images, files, etc...but only upload/delete items in their own folder they have write permission to.

I don't think you can do that with the existing Telerik editor....

Or you have to manually update the web.config everytime you add a new role that's assigned to a specific teacher...which I can do, but maintaining over a 100 schools sites with staff changes would become a tedious over burdening task....It would be better if Telerik could follow the DNN permissions, so my site admins could create a role, assign a user to that role, create a folder, and assign the role to that specific folder and give it the proper rights all through the GUI without my need to directly access the web.config everytime I wanted someone to use the RAD editor or give them FTP access to change the web.config.  In my mind that would be too dangerous for my average site admin.
