SMTP notications are fixed, performance is still bad. Everybody uses the site, so naturally people are working on it in order to get a decent 5.1.0 release.... all part of feeding the dog.

Not complaining, just observing - site is unusable slow. Tried to post earlier and got a "Site is having technical difficulties" screen. It was a very good looking error message screen though - much better than past error message screens. :)   Didn't really mean that to be funny but it works that way too!

It's much slower today than yesterday and I am not seeing a ton of new posts to warrant a heavy traffic excuse.

I didn't experience DNN.com being slower than typically in the past, and not more issues than usual, i.e. about a handful of error messages per day.

is this considered normal in the web developer world? :s

no, this is not "normal", but dotnetnuke.com is a high traffic site. I never experienced significant issues on the German user group site or any of our commercially hosted sites - but all of them mostly use 3rd party modules from professional developers (like ActiveModules, Ventrian, Portalfabrik, Effority)

ooooh!! What does this say about the developers of the free modules, they develop bloated slow modules? :)

I don't know about dotnetnuke.com being a high traffic site. I assume most of the traffic is going through the forums and looking at the aggregate view, I don't see  that many posts. But I am convinced that dnn as an asp.net app it's is an elephant.

Do you want to experience a screaming fast asp.net based site with a ton of traffic? Go to stackoverflow.com. It runs on a single server and database server. Every line of code is highly optimized whether it's MVC based ASP.NET, code behind C#, Javascript, CSS, minimal graphics & minimalist of everything. It's a great resource site.

As some sort of reply I would like to say I don't have superhuman powers - therefore by the law of deduction everybody else MUST be a superhuman.
Please wait for this web farm to be optimized and dogfooded. Thankyou for your patience.
