We are considering using DNN for our Intranet. We already have a lot of content that we would like to import into DNN. Can anyone point me in the right direction for how to go about this. I'm comfortable with writing script to strip out HTML but don't know how I get it into DNN or how I translate existing hyperlinks into links that will work in DNN.

Thanks

This all really depends on what you're trying to migrate.  Copy and paste still works fine, and if you want you could wirte SQL scripts to import and update the database content, but you really need to know what you're doing for that.

I am not sure what is "a lot of content " but my experience says that it is better using copy paste then trying to script it. I tried in the past to migrate sites to DNN and it always concluded that scripting is too complicated and definitely costs more (comparing hours of a qualified SQL expert to someone that has to know basic HTML)
The other issue that led me to use copy paste as a rule is that migrating a site is a good chance to clean the stables and set thing to comply with standards etc.

I agree, migrating web site technical basics is also a chance to restructure web site and revisit each piece of content to be transferred - whether it needs to be pertained and how to present it. Experienced DNN consultants might be of good help for this part of the job.

Thanks for your replies folks. I thought this might be the case. We have something like 8000 web pages and I've been fighting to get a CMS for years. There is no central budget for our Intranet so it looks like I will have to install the software then encourage each department to transfer content themselves.
