I am seeing this exact same thing. I especially notice it in Admin -> Security Roles -> Edit a role -> Manage Users in this Role as it is SLOOW with a lot of users. I see DNN getting bogged down in UserProfile type function calls and have seen the GetUserCountByPortal reference a good bit. This is just preliminary investigating by stopping the debugger every once in a while during long several minute page loads.

FYI, since converting the bulk of the pages to an app, the site is performing much better. An archived version we have running on a dev domain remains painfully slow. Given nothing else is different between the instances, it is clear the process is hitting a limit with both large tab and user counts.

Hmm, are these app converted admin pages still in development? Just curious if upgrading to v5.3 from v5.1.4 would help any. I looked over the changelogs on gemini but didn't see anything specific that was relevant to this issue.

The app didn't convert admin pages.  This was a custom solution for one website with over 1000 tabs.  Because this solved our problem, I have not been on top of the issue.  My experience simply reinforces that something is limiting performance for large sites.

FYI The overcall of GetUserCountByPortal Sproc was fixed in 5.2.1.
