Hi,

What is the best choice to do?
The build in FCK editor or the WatchersNet CKeditor
Somebody has an opinion about this?

Regards, Ton Hermes

I suggest testing it on a local page first (like you should with any new module) ;)

I played with the WatchersNet ckEditor and ran into several bugs... I'd love to see people help them out by using and reporting bugs with the module, but it doesn't seem ready for prime time yet.

Ok, well now we have the Telerik RadEditor option too...

IMHO - I have not looked at other themes (I assume you can theme it?) but the Telerik Editor is UGLY to look at (well the one on these forums anyway). Also, with things like Add Link - the pages show things like "Choose DNN page" which make no sense to internet users on my poker site - I assume these can all be templated too but it's a lot of work.

I currently use a scaled down FCK Editor with smileys (it has a single bar with only the buttons the user might use, and most important it uses smileys - am I right in saying the Telerik one does not have easy to use smileys?).

The CKEditor looks awesome compare to FCK - what bugs have you found David - any showstoppers?

What are the major functionality differences between FCK, CK and Telerik?

Ok, I've played around with CKEditor and Telerik a bit more (considering FCKEditor is the legacy editor). Considering I don't want to spend time customizing colours/icons (who has time on DNN?) - Telerik has some great themes (you can play around with them here) - the SiteFinity one is nice... (I think these forums should change the theme and make it more appealing with a scaled down tool bar!)
http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/...

It has some nice features like the spellchecker (is this free?) and the word count etc that CKEditor does not have. Obviously it has a lot of development effort behind it too, although CKEditor does too (although if the forge coder stops providing DNN Provider updates that could be a problem). The icons on Telerik are much cleaner and easier to see (assuming I don't have time to customize them) - so it's just the lack of smileys that's a problem for me (here is a solution tho). It's also got nice file managers and image inserters.

I also need to be able to choose the toolbar (basic/advanced etc) based on Role - I read in an old post you cannot do this easily with Telerik like you can in CKEditor (Ckeditor has an awesome online toolbar editing textbox, no more messing around with files!). I need to be able to customize it at module, page and portal level easily.. (CKEditor is really good at this).

So at this point I am leaning a little towards Telerik... any thoughts?
