Fast forward another year plus...does anyone have strong opinions on which module is the leader at this point? We are trying to standardize on one blog module for all ourselves and our clients moving forward. Which one should we go with and why?

Thanks!

We use Ventrian - pretty happy with it... It just needs a major UI overhaul.

Scott put up some screen shots a while back that suggested an improvement was coming, but I'm not sure the status.

Mike,

Thank you.  We have used Ventrian News Articles for years and we love Scott.  And no offense to Scott whatsoever, but we are looking for a solution backed by a more substantial development team and forward-thinking, proactive product roadmap.  Any suggestions?

Again.. I just posted about selecting the "best" X. Instead of asking of what's the best software for 'some category'. Users really should list their main requirements. For example, if my main requirement from a blog module is the ability to use Live Writer to write posts and if the most recommend blog module doesn't support it, I'll bet I won't be using it. I also like blog modules which support threaded comments. There're more suitable for discussions. I actually would love to see a hybrid forum/blog module. I would write a post and users can get involved in an easy to follow comments. I also like to see a feature where I get notification when someone replies to my comment or any comment in the thread, vs notifications for every single comment which seems to be the only option available in all the blogs I used on the web on all the platforms.

Not a fan of SunBlog. The templating was difficult in IMO and the support I got was less than stellar. The admin was pretty good.

EasyDNN was ok, templating was also an issue and the admin is worse than Ventrian. The support, however was great.

I keep going back to Ventrian, mainly because it is easy to style and usually has 90% of the features that I usually need. The one thing that NA has that the other two I just mentioned didn't, is an easy way to feed categorized articles to a separate page. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of hope for Ventrian going forward. There doesn't seem to be a lot of new developments lately and it is really lagging behind the times from a UI perspective, as someone pointed out earlier. I also would like to see core taxonomy integration, author profiles, authorship meta tags (https://yoast.com/push-rel-author-head/) and an admin overhaul to something closer to what SunBlog has (bootstrap).
