Hi.

I am looking for a way to do the following.

In a html module if you link to a file I want to force the user to enter an email address, this is stored in a database table and the download of the file then begins.

Does anyone know if there is a way of doing this in DNN or a module that may handle this?

Cheers GB

there are a couple of download modules with additional features, but I am not aware of this use case being implemented - but have a search on snowcovered.com, there might be a module suiting your needs.

Thank you for your help, could you point me in the direction of these modules?

I have had a look on snowcovered and not had much luck yet...

I had a brief search and didn't find a module fitting your needs, sorry. you might need to create your own one or ask users to create a user profile to be able to download.

Hi

We are approaching this from a different way now. We are trying to make it so you list the documents in a HTML module.  We store all the documents in a folder password protected for registered users. The links are all visible to general public. The only problem is when the user clicks the link rather than ask them to login or register it gives a 404 server error. Does anyone know of a way of making this work so when you click on a link where the document has folder permissions the user gets a login or register prompt (as would happen if linking to a page) rather than the 404 error. You help is appreciated with this.

cheers

Gareth
