Hello

I am currently using DNN version 04.04.01

Some time back I tragically uploaded Forum 04.04.03 and not surprisingly stuffed a forum on my site as a result .

Would know which version of Forum I could download to run on my 04.04.01 site & also advise where I can download that Forum

In the medium term I hope to upgrade my DNN site however dont have the time resource to do so at present.

Thanks for your help.

Miles

I could not easily determine the minimum DotNetNuke version under which Forum 04.04.03 will work as this information was not shown on the project's CodePlex downloads site nor in the release notes nor manifest for that particular version. DotNetNuke 4.04.01 included Forum 3.20.08 in its packages so I suspect that version or maybe 3.20.09 would be the version to use.

Forum downloads of all versions are available by clicking in the Other Releases box at:http://dnnforum.codeplex.com/releases...

Note however, that downgrading an extension from a higher version to a lower version is NOT supported. You would need to first uninstall the Forum module 04.04.03 then do a new install of Forum 03.20.08. This will mean that all existing forum posts and configuration settings WILL be lost. The only means of downgrading is to restore the site files and database to backups made before the forum upgrade. Most likely those backups are not available anymore.  Perhaps now is the time to consider upgrading your DNN framework version to at least 4.09.05. If you should decide to upgrade, besure you make backups of both filesystem and database first and carefully study in the Wiki the steps for upgrading and pitfalls you may encounter.

Will

Thanks heaps for your very good advice:

1. Yes I checked for the information on the CodePlex and surrounds and too could not find hence why my post.

2. Also thought I could go down the 3.20.08/9 path - but now seems a bit futile if you say I will lose posts on existing forum.

3. Yes I was seriously considering upgrading my DNN framework there are several issues here though, one reason that I have avoided upgrades is that in past found DNN framework that upgraded to was less stable and did not support heaps of the past versions applications I had adpoted.

Given you sound like you are in the know - what is the DNN framework that you would recommend I upgrade to - initially as a site that will run as parrallel beta of existing host site.

thanks your kindly advice

Miles

Miles, for security reasons, I strongly suggest upgrading at least to DNN 4.9.5. you should upgrade in 2 steps via 4.6.2 and may follow my upgrade checklist: http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/186/Default.aspx
