Yay... Take Me to the Community!

Welcome to the DNN Community Forums, your preferred source of online community support for all things related to DNN.

Does anyone know if you can convert a standard DNN forum into the YAF format?

Best wishes,

I had hoped to but we have had infrastructure changes in my business that took my time off my community projects including my website that had the free versino of Active Forums. I know that Jaben said he would look at it  and then he was busy with work, so I have not followed it up.  Now that dnn 6 is coming out and I'm a little more free in my time to put back into the community, I had thought of looking at it.  I was prepared to chip in to the payment of getting this done for it to be returned back to the community as something that could be reused.

Ping Jaben from yetanotherforum and i believe he will respond to you.

Hi Mark

I have used both forums. If I where you I would try to go with the DNN forum as at least that has a clear update path.
The current version is miles better than it used to be. I found skinning the dnn forum to be easier than AF.
The current DNN forum will not allow video clips (EG YouTube) to be embedded which is a bit of a pain. The quoted issue is dnn core filters (but you can add video in AF!)
DNN forums uses the core Private messages system - AF has none but it is easy to integrate Venrtians Private Messages.
The control panels for both are about the same and both are good.
AF requires that you run the site in Full-Trust to use the file upload feature.

I should qualify this post and say that the last version of AF I used was 4.16

Not tried YAF.
