That is currently being done. The client is the owner of the site and the one who pays me. Removing him from the decision making is hardly an option. As stated he wants this second layer should someone in the future give out their login which they should not be doing. He is very cautious on protecting the users info and wants to ensure these pages can not be seen as they are datagrids with users information in them.

So with that being said, what options are available to achieve this?

I was being just a little facetious.

The logic is still flawed. What's to keep them from giving out pwd #1 and not pwd #2 as well? Foolishness follows foolishness.

What is going to be the directive? "You are not allowed to give out pwd #1. And you are really, really not allowed to give out pwd #2."

Sorry, I don't have a solution beyond user education and compliance with good / normal practices.

My suggestion is also less costly and more bullet-proof (robust) than any other you will be able to devise or discover.

Personal Opinion: Your task is how to communicate this to your client convincingly, not to find a technological means to support your client's unwise practices.

Best of luck however you proceed.

I agree completely with what you have said. Perhaps I should try once more to discuss this with him and explain. Actually I think I will show him this thread as then he will see that I have addressed the issue and consulted with others in the field. He is a very reasonable person and I think reading this will explain better than i could over the phone, or even in an email.

I appreciate your thoughts on this matter. I firmly believe in the old rule that the client is always right. Sometimes they may need educating so they have all the information and facts in order to make the correct decision.
