I strongly suggest testing SMTP, DNN is configured to send a notification email to new users, however if SMTP configuration is not valid, then there is a high chance user's get registered but un-authorized.

Hi Jonathan ,

I have went to the host settings and clicked on "Test SMTP settings" the email was sent successfully.

Are you registering with a legit email address? Is that email address on the same mail server as the one you tested with Host Settings? Many mail servers can be configured to send to local email boxes but not be configured to relay out to unknown mail servers.

If it's not the SMTP server causing the problem then I'd be curious to see what the DNN Event Log is showing related to the error if anything.

Hi Jonathan,

I have several DNN installations on this server and have put up many DNN sites over the years since 2005.

The server can send emails ok, and my other DNN installations can send mails no problem.

Emails are sent to users when they register if I sent the registration mode to public its only when the registration mode is set to private.

I went to the event viewer log but it has nothing of use.  I don't see any events that would indicate that something has failed during registration.  I see the new user event but no error after it.

The only error I have identified so far is the stack trace from the Chrome Console showing the telerik control time out.

I can't launch this new site until this is resolved.  I have to use private registration.

Just covering the basics. Sometimes it's the little things that we overlook.

It sounds like some very specific is going wrong since 90% of the process is working and the exception is being caught in a try catch.

Without more details I'd had have to take a look under the hood myself to see exactly what is going on. I could debug a copy of your site and let you know what was wrong.

Let me know if you'd be interested in that.
