@Costas Zividis

I agree that DNN is Windows Based, but there many different versions in Windows OS like Web Edition, Standard Edition, Enterprise and Data Center, different people/organization use diffident OS edition because of their SQL Server requirements and other features of OS. SQL server comes with per CPU license, express edition can only support 1CPU while Web Edition supports up to 4 CPUs.

Its same as you do not get many featurs in DNN CE but you do get in DNN PE.

"Choice of Plesk Control Pane."
The Difference between Control Panel is that Plesk Power Pack is required to support MSSQL Server, Application Pack, Cold Fusion etc.

I hope this will help to understand

Cheers

 Tell me, does that version of control panel have the bugs fixed that stopped you from attaching / restoring an MSQL Database?  Although I do hosting - it's more of a managed reseller hosting where our clients / resellers just tell us what projects they have and we build out their sites with most of the modules pre installed, so it's very hands on but we have several builds ready to deploy, BUT we do help others migrate from one server to another and I have found on numerous occasions that you can't actually restore a DB using the Plesk control panel because of a bug. I'm not sure what version, but it was less than three weeks ago I came across this very situation when someone was moving from one hosting provider to another and the hosting provider had to manually attach it, or the other alternative was a very poor one - install some sql tools and manually import the tables which is not acceptable in my books to expect a non tech person to have to handle their dnn sites that way.
