You need to set the z-index of the menu to a number higher than the other objects it's covering. Set it to something like 999 and that should work.

Sounds like the other app is broken.

I don't use IE8.  The start date works for me in IE9.

I would find a work around instead of using IE8 compatibility mode. That's not a setting you want to design an entire website around IMO.

Yes, I think maybe the other apps need some modification, but it needs a big effort to fix it.
For a while, do you have any other solution for my problem?

z-index is a css value, which needs to get applied.
