I'm pleased to share in the announcement today that iFinity Software has been acquired by DotNetNuke.   As part of this announcement I am now employed full time  of DotNetNuke corporation.

You can read more about this at my blog post here : http://www.ifinity.com.au/2012/12/18/...

Shaun Walker has also posted a blog here : http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/B...

The main purpose of this is of course to acquire the IP related to the Url Master product.  This IP will be integrated into DotNetNuke for version 7.1.   You can get the full breakdown of what is going where in my linked blog post above.

I like to think that there is something for everyone in the outcome, and I'm looking forwards to getting involved in many more aspects of DotNetNuke.

Could someone better outline how it will work for existing URLmaster installations on the community edition in terms of upgrades?  I really don't want to find out sites have become orphaned from the upgrades because they can afford the pro version.

For instance, does Community Core: YES, Community UI: NO mean the function is there but I have to manage it in a config file?

Lance - it will depend on which functions you're using.  There will be a new release of the module which will transition the settings from the Url Master settings into the DotNetNuke settings, but once that is done the Url Master module will be deactivated.  Yes, the values will be technically able to be modified, although they are more likely to be database based than in a config file - well, that's the current plan (to prevent unnecessary app restarts).

You will also have the option of continuing to use your Url Master install with 7.1, there will be no reason why it cannot continue to work in the current way.

Thanks so much Bruce, this really alleviated my concerns.  In the end, this is fantastic news for everyone.
