Please can someone help me. I have been using the core module for forums but this is lacking in some functionality. Can any suggest another forum I could use. I need the forum to have the ability to show what new posts have been made on the forums on another page.

Thanks

Abernus,

Do you have the ability to create your own module to show new posts? I know it's not what you're looking for but it may still be easier than moving to a new forums module since that may not retain all the data from your current forum.

I would love to be able to do this as there are so many little projects I want to add to my site but nothing exists for it yet. But I don't know how to even start to create a module. If you could point me in the right direction that would be good.

If you need just the new posts ability linked to core Forum module why reinvent the wheel?
There's a ForumLatestPosts module available for download free of charge here.
Upon the configuration you can place the LatestPosts module on your Home Page or wherever you like.

As an alternative (and depending on your SQL syntax skills) you can always use the Reports module to get and present the newest posts the way you like in a nice and easy manner .

Bear in mind, though, the core Forum module is to be replaced sometime with Active Forum. But on the other hand, the devs cannot sort out the problems which surface along the way and this is why the community forum here still uses the Core Forum as I gather.

Thanks for the link to that module I will check it out. I did read about them moving the forums to Active Forums but until the problems are sorted and you can migrate your posts I need to stick to what I have atm,.

If that module is not what I need I think I will investigate the SQL route, my skills are a little rusty but I should be able to figure something out.Again thanks :D
