thanks Sebastian,

the SP exists in the DB but the error exists. Something is calling it as a method of the DataProvider. I just can not figure out what it is.

Jordan, please check your connection strings in web.config - make sure database login exists and is mapped to a database user

Sebastian, the site connects just fine and all other procedures etc work without error. I don't think it is a sql login credential issue. thanks

this sounds very strange. are you able to call the procedure w/o issues in SSMS or Host > SQL?

Thanks for staying with this Sebastian. I tried to execute the procedure from the SSMS. I got the following error:

Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Procedure GetSearchItems, Line 8
Invalid object name 'dbo.vw_SearchItems'.

This is part of the search Implementation for 7.1 and earlier. Somewhere this is getting called. But the stack trace makes it look like the call is comming from the DNN core. So I made sure that my dotnetnuke.dll is the right version. And it is 7.3.4. I don't want to recreate all the old search tables/view/and procedures to get rid of this error. I am now installing third party modules (I only have 5) from my live site into a new dnn instance one at a time to see if any generate this error.
