AFAIK the only action in the script requiring Edit Database permission is the Upgrade "compatibilityLevel" statement.
However, your hosting provider should provide you with dbowner permission for your database.

My provider confirmed that I have the dbowner permission and the ALTER.

I am going to wait until 7.4.2 comes out before I try to upgrade again.  I will post the error message here if get it again.

Thanks for everyone's help

It's vanishingly unlikely to give a different result. The general approach of the update scripts is that going from Version A to Version B is done by applying all the scripts in between.

This is totally sensible as the alternative is to try and write independent scripts to get from Version Any to Version AnyOther. The chance of getting all them right is infinitesimal.

Do you have any suggestions?  I am not very technical.    I rely on copying over the update files and then it does everything automatically.  I have upgraded this instance of dnn many times and never had this sort of issues.

Should I take out that section of the script like the person did earlier in this thread?

I am at a loss.  I have all the permissions.  Should I try again and copy the exact message on this thread?

I really do appreciate all the help.  :)
