It's not clear what you are asking for and why? Is it for module development? I am not sure why you care about what DNN itself uses. If you're creating your own module, you can use whatever you like regardless of what DNN uses in the front side. DNN 9 will be u sing ReactJS and Redux. They didn't mention yet why they used these technologies.

There's no one technology that fits everyone's needs, skills and coding style, otherwise everyone would be using it. Also don't just use a technology because it's the current hot one. Yesterday was Angular and tomorrow might be Angular2. Aurelia seems to be a good JS framework.

Use the technology you are comfortable with. Even jQuery by itself is still very capable. Telerik is a UI Framework for the purpose of displaying styled UI elements. The other frameworks you mentioned are JS frameworks. Some are used to create SPA pages. They don't preclude you from using a UI framework. For example KendoUI now can work with Angular2. Same with DevExpress. It can work with Angular2, Angular, jQuery and Knockout.

DNN itself seems to be using different framework. It was using Knockout and now I hear DNN9 will use ReactJS and Redux. They too seem to be moving directions quite often.

You should first mention what you want to do.

Heh, such an interesting way of thinking. Yeah, like you said, DNN9 will use ReactJS and Redux. As they've mentioned, almost all core modules will be rewritten. Of course i am asking because of the module development. Otherwise i completely agree with your opinion about technologies and "fitting the needs". Currently we are using WebForms + Telerik for UI development framework, but of course we are always looking forward and obviously MVC will be the proper technology to use in the future.

Of course it is great to use the technology in which you are comfortable with, but sometimes it is also good to follow the evolution of the CMS you are using. Also, if you are developing some complex projects, it is good to know what is going on in the DNN (CMS) core modules.

But of course, you can always just create your module, use technology you use the most and fits all your needs and build completely independent product. The main purpose of this topic was, to find out what (which technology) will be used in DNN 9 in general.
