The concept of using user names rather than emails to login is beyond dated. Experience says that users will not only forget their password, but will forget their user name. This makes a DNN site 2x more pain in that instance than a normal website. People don't forget their own email address.

 

 

In past versions of DNN, I understand we could use email addresses instead of usernames by:

Admin | User Accounts | Advanced Settings | Expand Registration Settings -- check the 7th setting down. There is a checkbox to allow email address as the username.   Where is this option in DNN 9? It seems to be missing and I hope it isn't because someone actually thinks user names are a great idea.

 

 

 

The use email address as username option is available in DNN9+.

It is in Settings > Security > Member Accounts > Use Email address as username checkbox

I cant see this option in Member Accounts? We are also using DNN9+
